Maria graduated from Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alberta and obtained a diploma in Early Childhood Education with honors. She also obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Arts in public management from the Philippines. Her credentials have also been certified by the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) in Alberta with comparative levels of achievement in Canada. Maria worked as a university professor of psychology, medical social worker, and human resources officer in her home country.
She began her career as an Early Childhood Educator in 2013 and has been working at Willowbrae Academy West Point since December 2020. Maria believes that teaching and learning together is central in the field of early childhood education. She is passionate about making these concepts visible between children and staff. She also considers families and the community as important aspects in the development of children.
Maria loves music, playing games, watching documentaries, cooking, and reading. She also loves to spend time with her husband, dog, and three children.
